Gertjan Franciscus

Gertjan Franciscus (NL) has a background in circus, and came to DasArts to learn more about his performance practice. After his graduation, Gertjan elaborated on his work while working in health and social care, hereby strengthening competences that are useful for his artistic work and collaborations. In his visual performance ‘portraits’, Gertjan gives life to prophetic figures, which are half-divine and half animal creatures. “The Honey Queen”, “The Beginning” and “Das Märchen” have been performed in theatres and museums internationally:  Rotterdamse Schouwburg, Internazional Festival of Santarcangelo (Italy), Centre Pompidou (Paris), Les Urbaines (Lausanne) and recently at the Ellen de Bruijne Gallery and at the festival Les rencontres de la forme courte (Bordeaux). Furthermore, Gertjan creates costumes and scenographies for DasArts collegues, for example for Manolis Tsipos, Julian Hetzel and Michele Rizzo (SNDO).
