Ntando Cele (1980) was born in South Africa, has her background as an actress and performer.

She started creating work on a multi disciplinary level collaborating on choreography, poetry and sight specific projects. In the last three years she has been mostly involved in Solo performances; a scripted one womanshow and the rest her own creations, using her own texts.

During her studies at DasArts she collaborated with a musician and a painter to create Cypher Session a flavor of sound, song, storytelling and poetry; which premiered in Zurich Theater Spektakel.

Ntando Cele is educated as an actress and had a practice as poetry improviser and performance maker before she came to DasArts. At DasArts, Ntando explored the possibilities of the voice as an instrument to enlarge her register of solo performing. Sandro Lunin, festival director of the Zürcher Theater Spektakel, is supporting her work for quite some years now. Her performance “Face Off” was performed at the Zürcher Theater Spektakel, Festival Belluard Bollwerk International (Fribourg) and the Compagnietheater (Amsterdam) as part of the NeuNOW Festival 2013, and at the Fringe Festival (Amsterdam). Furthermore, she performed a work in progress entitled “Black Notice” as part of the AIR programme of Afrovibes Festival 2013. This will be further developed and presented in Johannesburg and at Afrovibes this year. She will also be part of the Aktionswoche gegen Rassismus (Bern) with a show called “how to approach an "Ausländer" in ten steps”.
