Admission criteria

General

Students who apply for admission must be in possession of a bachelor's degree. In every case, previous qualifications obtained abroad will be checked against the admission criteria by NUFFIC. Dutch students are expected to have a grasp of English at HAVO/VWO level or an equivalent level according to TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or IELTS (International English Language Testing System).

Diploma students from abroad who join the first year, the second year or the preparatory course are expected to have a grasp of Dutch at level B2 according to the European Frame of Reference. Admission may be through a selection procedure. Selection is carried out on the basis of the application form, the portfolio, and a list of subjects in the graduation discipline, and may also include an interview.

Candidates who do not satisfy the above criteria but who wish to be considered in view of a combination of previous training and relevant work experience may be admitted in a number of cases on the basis of an admission inquiry. The inquiry committee consists of the head of department and the study adviser.

It is a condition of admission to the Academy of Architecture that the student works in professional practice in a place of work that is relevant for the course of study.
