Preparatory course Landscape Architecture / Urbanism
This preparatory course in Landscape Architecture / Urbanism is intended for prospective urban designers and landscape architects who do not satisfy the immediate admission requirements of the Academy. Urban Design and Landscape Architecture are jointly covered in a single course.
The course aims at design skills (for students from prior courses which did not include any design) and raises their technical knowledge to the required level so that students with different starting levels can prepare themselves properly for the masters at the Academy.
The basic knowledge covered concerns planning and housing (aimed at future urban design students), on the one hand, and soil, plants and the Dutch landscape (aimed at future landscape architecture students), on the other hand. Practice in design skills is important for both studies and plays a major role, in line with the typical way of teaching at the Academy, as well as raising the issue of the application of the knowledge acquired. Students from different backgrounds and with a differentiated demand for knowledge or skills are attracted by the preparatory course. It is assumed that the group will be mixed. Learning from fellow students, working in multidisciplinary groups, and creating an adequate group size (8-12 participants) are characteristic of teaching at the Academy.
Those who successfully complete the course are automatically eligible to embark on the Master in Urbanism or Landscape Architecture course . The course runs from January to June and takes up approx. 280 hours. An up to date application form is available at the site.
