Databases, catalogues and websites selected by AHK libraries

Apart from their own catalogue the libraries of the Amsterdam University of the Arts have also signed license agreements with several providers of specialized databases. Included are also some interesting websites and catalogues.

Adamnet
AdamNet is a collaboration of libraries in Amsterdam, ranging from EYE, OBA, UB, Atria, Boekmanstichting to libraries of museums in Amsterdam. The collections of 18 libraries can be searched via a group catalogue.

Beeld en Geluid op school (formerly known as Academia) provides access to video and audio material from the archives of the Dutch Institute for Sound and Vision. Choose for Inloggen met Surf. Architectural Publications Index (API)
Database with 250,000 specifications of about 300 international architecture journals, from 1972 until now.

Art & Architecture Source
The largest full-text art research database covering fine, decorative and commercial art, as well as architecture and architectural design. Bonas Archiwijzer
Inventory of about 200 designers with publications, drawings and objects.

Het Nieuwe Instituut
Collection of the former NAi and the encyclopedic data of the Bonas Archiwijzer, with descriptions and images of persons and organisations, books, journals, plans and objects.

Academy of Architecture - Digital Maps Library
The library of the Academy of Architecture has licenses for the use of digital maps. These files can be downloaded from the computers in the library of the academy, login with AHK account.

Publieke Dienstverlening op de Kaart (PDOK)
PDOK offers a wide range of digital government geo-information. On the website you can request this information free of charge as data services and files. Also geographic data (TOP10NL, TOP24 and TOP50 grid) can be downloaded to be viewed in a Geographic Information System (GIS).

LKCA
Publications, journal articles, theses, teaching methods, policy plans and films, professional literature on policy and practice and research in the field of cultural education and active cultural participation / amateur art. Mostly in Dutch but some are in English.

RKD
Website of the Netherlands Institute for Art History that offers access to countless (artist) archives.

AATA
AATA Online is a comprehensive database of over 156,000 abstracts of literature related to the preservation and conservation of material cultural heritage. AATA has developed specific subject bibliographies, in which the Getty Conservation Institute is involved in specific scientific research projects.

Boekmanstichting
The library collects publications on art and culture policy and the social aspects of that policy. The collection contains over 75,000 titles. The focus is on the Dutch and European situation.

Dutch National Archives
The database of The Nationaal Archief (Dutch National Archives) is the ‘national memory’ of the Netherlands. It holds documents, photos and maps both from the central government, as well as from organizations and persons of national importance (past and present).

ICOM database
ICOM database of publications related to the protection of cultural heritage; national legislations on the protection of cultural heritage; international, national and museum-related directories; illicit traffic-related publications and reports as well as endangered heritage and emergency contexts, photos and slides.

LKCA
National Centre of Expertise for Cultural Education and Amateur Arts (LKCA) provides information in the field of arts and cultural education. The database contains LKCA literature on policy, practice and research in the field of cultural education and active cultural participation with society.

Meertens Instituut
The Meertens Institute studies the diversity in language and culture in the Netherlands. It offers, a.o., databases that serve as a starting point for research.

RKD Nederlands Instituut voor Kunstgeschiedenis
Catalogue of the library's collection focuses on Western art from the late Middle Ages up to the present. The RKD provides worldwide access to knowledge, research and information about Netherlandish art in an international context, for museums, the academic community and the general public alike.

Institute for Sound and Vision
Institute for Sound and Vision (Beeld en Geluid) collects and conserves the audio-visual heritage of the Netherlands, and makes it accessible to media professionals, education, science and the general public.

EYE
EYE is the national institute for film in the Netherlands.

International Bibliography of Theatre & Dance with Full Text is the definitive research database for theatre and dance studies. Mime Archives
This website contains historical sources and various research materials from Marijn de Langen’s postdoctoral research at the Amsterdam University of the Arts.

Theater in Nederland
The extensive TIN collection covers all theatre disciplines, from circus to cabaret and from dance to opera. Besides the many books, magazines and texts, the library has hundreds of video recordings of performances, reviews and thousands of photographs and program notes.

Theaterencyclopedie
The Theatre Encyclopaedia contains information on all performing arts (except music): theatre, dance, opera, music theatre, musical, mime, cabaret, youth theatre, puppet theatre, revue, show, variety, illusionism and circus.
