DAS Theatre: Opening Investigative Institute for Obsolescence

Wednesday 22 February 2017, 18.00 - 19.00 uur
DAS Graduate School, Overhoeksplein 2, Amsterdam

The Investigative Institute for Obsolescence is the first institute of its kind. Its aim is to track obsolescence as such by regarding its symptoms, manifestations, and potentiality. In other words, to question the state of things that are rendered useless, simply scheduled to expire, and be replaced, as the device you are reading this description on. The Institute shares the belief that to be obsolete, undesirable and purposeless might mean freedom to operate differently.

Investigative Institute for Obsolescence is a project by Szymon Adamczak, Sofia Dinger, Clara Garcia Fraile, Erin Hill, Ira Melkonyan, Jonathan Offereins, Alice Pons, Biljana Radinoska, Vincent Riebeek, Catarina Vieira in conversation with Daniel Blanga-Gubbay and Livia Andrea Piazza

For now, the Institute recruits its investigators among participants of the Block ‘Anywhere, Anywhere out of This World’ at DAS Theatre. They will carry their investigations through means of their practices and invite others to contribute and share.
