Bachelor Cultural Heritage

The Reinwardt Academy offers you the opportunity to equip yourself with the knowledge and skills that you need as a prospective professional in the field of cultural heritage. The course contents are constantly adjusted to keep up with current changes in the heritage field and with developments in thinking about heritage. The professional orientation of the course is the subject of regular consultation with professional organisations at national and international level.

The bachelor’s course in Cultural Heritage has a duration of four years and is given in Dutch. This course covers the whole field of heritage in two respects. On the one hand, you are trained for functions in all the institutions that are operative in the field of heritage: museums, archives and libraries, institutions in the field of the conservation of monuments and archaeology, centres for nature and landscape management, heritage houses, galleries, science centres, project agencies, policy departments and auxiliary institutions. On the other hand, attention is paid to every type of heritage: historical objects, art objects, collections of plants and animals, historical books and archival items, monuments and cultural landscapes, traditions, rituals and popular customs, as well as digital, mobile and industrial heritage. Since the bachelor’s course covers the entire field of heritage, you have a wide range of possibilities open to you after graduation.

You are taught by tutors and guest tutors from the field of heritage, some of whom still work in it. Moreover, because of the academy’s intensive contacts with heritage institutions in the Netherlands and abroad, you have many possibilities when it comes to periods of hands-on training, excursions and graduation projects.
