Professorship Cultural Heritage

Since August 2011 Hester Dibbits and Riemer Knoop are in charge of the professorship Cultural Heritage at the Reinwardt Academy. Their focus is on the formation of theory and development of education with regard to material and intangible cultural heritage.

The professorship contributes to the reinforcement of the social position of heritage institutions and the further development of the curriculum of heritage education in both the bachelor’s and the master’s courses. The framework of the research programme is determined by the relationship between the field of operations, theoretical reflection and its application to education.

After 100 days of orientation and observation in the Reinwardt Academy, Hester Dibbits and Riemer Knoop presented their plans for their professorship in the upcoming four years.

The Cultural Heritage professorship is one of the eight such bodies of the Amsterdam University of the Arts, all with the ambition to offer students, staff and stakeholders in professional environments challenging and innovative opportunities for cooperation. In doing so, important forms of cooperation are the monthly debate podium Erfgoedarena, the Reinwardt Memorial Lecture and structural partnerships.
