Applying for a residence permit
Please note: this information applies to nationals of the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan or South Korea. Nationals of other countries, except students from a country within the European Economic Area, need to apply for an entry visa first.
After having successfully completed your audition at one of the academies of the Amsterdam School of the Arts, further steps have to be taken in order to obtain your residence permit for study purposes.
Step 1: copy of passport and photo
Please download the provisional residence permit application form, fill it out and send it together with a copy of ALL pages of your passport, including the blank pages and a passport photo to the AHK Enrolment Office.
Requirements for the passport photo:
- in colour, no copy
- face taken from front, no smiling, ears visible
- background has to be either white, light grey or light blue

Step 2: fee transfer
Please transfer an amount of €610 to our bank account. Make sure to use the following information:

Add: student name (as in passport) + date of birth
Step 3: financing and stay
In order to obtain a residence permit for study purposes you must show proof of having enough financial means while staying in the Netherlands. There are several ways to do this.

Step 4: filling out and signing the official application form
To conclude the procedure for your residence permit you have to come to the Enrolment Office to fill out the official form. The Enrolment Office will send this together with the documents you have sent from abroad to the Immigration Department. If all the documents are correct, you can pick up your residence permit in about 6 to 7 weeks.
