Theatre Teacher

Interim artistic directors
Dennis van Galen en Katja Hieminga

The School for Theatre Teachers offers a broad based professional education for those who wish to make theatre in primary and middle level education, with youth Theaterschools, cultural and community centres, amateur drama clubs and the like. The department awards a first class degree in theatre education. The objective of theatre teachers is to provide experience of the essentials of theatre making as well as to encourage an interest in the arts. To this end they give lessons in theatre making and acting, coach workshops and direct and produce performances.

The school aims to train dedicated and creative individuals who feel a commitment towards the development of theatre education both inside and outside schools, and the promotion and practice of amateur theatre in society. Graduates will therefore work with students or amateur performers who are making theatre - sometimes enthusiastically and sometimes reluctantly, voluntarily or compulsorily.

The tutors in the school are practising experts from the professional and/or amateur theatre worlds or specialists from other areas.

Attention!
The language of the Theatre Department is Dutch. In order to function up to the mark in the lessons, foreign students are required to learn, speak, write and read Dutch during their first year of study.
