Body of Knowledge

Body of Knowledge is a creative collaboration between a group of teenagers and a team of artists, initiated and directed by theatre-maker Samara Hersch. The project explores how to have complex conversations about sex and the body in ways that are empowering, driven by real curiosity, including questions of boundaries, shame, healing, consent, pleasure, ageing…The Brogan Davison Show is a solo stand-up performance that plays with the vulnerable relationship between a performer and their audience. Standing alone onstage Brogan Davison - a socially awkward, mentally-fragile English women - reveals her more unflattering sides in a perhaps desperate attempt to give the performance of a lifetime. As hilarious as it is sincere, this event is a grandiose, naive and absurd attempt of a lonely human to connect to world and the people within it.

The Brogan Davison Show (Extravaganza!)

Never Never Never Ever Never Never Ever Never Ever Ever EVER Ever EVER Give Up Unless It Gets Too Hard

Never Never Never Ever Never Never Ever Never Ever Ever EVER Ever EVER Give Up Unless It Gets Too Hard is a durational performance consisting of the filming of a promotional trailer. The piece proposes an all-in investment into “cultural capital”, privileging the development of web presence over the performance itself. Witnesses to the process are invited to enter, observe, leave, and return throughout the evening. NNNENNENEEEEEGUUIG2H follows Sianne Ngai's "Theory of the Gimmick" as an organizational principle, updating the arch logic of Villiers de l'Isle-Adam's "Glory Machine" for the digital age, to produce what Slavoj Žižek calls an "over-orthodox" conformity with contemporary standards of success in our modern neoliberal hellscape.

Melih Gençboyacı 19:30 - 20:15
The Embassy series – a continuing research in politics, rituals, and curation

The Embassy of Future Citizenship and The New Embassy of Turkey (the Embassy series) have been developed as Melih Gençboyacı’s degree project in Extended Curation. During his studies, Melih has been drawn to the notion of ‘embodied resistance’ at the intersection of art, politics and spirituality. He is interested in the relationship between ritual practices and political identifications, and experiments with creating contexts for their entanglement. Through his research, Melih seeks to address these key questions: How can a curatorial practice create agency and engagement in the audience? How can a political understanding of the body be instrumental in proposing a new identification? These questions require him to think about the body as a site of everyday resistance, and about the potential of curatorial practice as a testing ground for the new embodiments that emerge.

Max Gadow 20:30 - 21:30
Liquid Ecstasy

Liquid Ecstasy is an allegorical performance-essay that explores the possibilities of returning to a primordial state of fluid equality amongst all life forms. It is an exploration of the relation between humans and the fluids that surround and perfuse them. It reveals the Dutch people’s inherited fear of water and their obsession to tame and contain it. It is a ritualistic offering to liquidity through the transformation of the self in hope of a fluid future and a devotion to oceanic feelings.

Ingrid Vranken start 22:00 (ongoing programme)
Rooted Hauntology Lab / Séance #1

Rooted Hauntology Lab invites plants, artists, thinkers and audiences to ‘be-with’ each other, to contemplate our planetary co-existence. Rooted Hauntology Lab commits to ‘thinking-with’ the trouble, by acknowledging that human knowledge alone is not enough. Our photosynthetic colleagues include decorative exotic plants, carnivorous plants and common kitchen herbs. Our practices attempt to go beyond gardening or an exploitative aesthetic objectification, and question our politics of relation, both towards the other-than-human and human others.
