  • 9.30 to 12.30
  • 13.30-16.30

About Michail-Pavlos Semsis
Michail-Pavlos Semsis was born in Athens in 1993. He started learning the violin with his father Dimitris Semsis when he was 6 years old. When he was 12 he switched to the double bass and learned from Takis Kapogiannis. He began his studies wiith Prof. Dorin Marc in Nürnberg in 2012 and got his Bachelors degree in Juli 2016. Since then he has been a Master student with the same Professor. He has participated in masterclasses with the following bassists: Olivier Thiery, Thierry barbe, Leon Bosch, Nikos Tsoukalas, Bozo Paradzik, Michael Wolf, Dan Styffe. He received a scholarship from the "Friends of Music Society" in Athens. He has succesfully participated in many international competitions. The most notable Prizes he has won are: 2. Prize at the Sperger International Competition 2016, Semi-finalist and Prize for the best interpretation of a contemporary piece at the ARD Competition 2016. He has played in many orchestras over the years such as Staatstheater Nürnberg, Deutsche Oper Berlin and Concertgebouw Orkest. At the moment he is a principal Bassist in the Gewandhaus Orchester leipzig. His bass is an A.Guadagnini, made ca. 1850.
