Research from DAS THIRD by Flavia Pinheiro
The Mimosa pudica plant is well known for its rapid response to touch. After being captured in greenhouses across Europe, the plant stopped reacting to touch - "playing dead" .
Experiment #1 was conducted as part of the Holland Festival this summer. Now, we are preparing for Mimosa Experiment #2. In this ongoing research, in collaboration with the Mimosa pudica plant, we will explore the implications of representing nature as a feminized, domesticated space.
Must we, too, play dead to survive? How should we respond to touch? How can we keep ourselves alive?
