The fourth year students of the Modern Theatre Dance education participate in the prestigious Tanz Biennale 2014 in Dresden, Germany. They will perform Liat Waysbort's choreography Number 2/BackWardbill on 18 February. The Biennale takes place from 15-23 February. The theme of the Biennale is "Education – Profession_A creative Process".

BackWardbill is a duet based on Liat Waysbort's recent full-evening programme What's Left. She created it for two Modern Theatre Dance graduating students to perform during the PACCT festival in Belgium. 

In Number 2/BackWardbill, Waysbort chose to extend the duet to a group of four dancers to challenge the transformation of material, intimacy and meaning. The high beat composition and musical score creates an intense environment for the dancers to reveal their intriguing (inner) world. The dancers are playing; they’re playing with notions of gender, synchronistic motion and other social codes. They run around, make signs, twist their hips and tickle themselves...

Liat Waysbort (Israel 1974) began her dance career in Tel-Aviv with the Bat-Sheva Dance Company. In 2005 she started her creative work in Dansateliers, and continued with her very successful choreographic trajectories in Dansatelies since then. In the same period, Liat also created various works for companies such as Conny Janssen Danst, Dansgroep Amsterdam and The Meekers.

As an important branch of her work as a choreographer, Liat is dedicating her time to teach and educate intensively new generations of talents in the Amsterdam School of the Arts (Modern Theatre Dance) and giving workshops for professionals in the Netherlands and Europe.
