Gepubliceerd op

The final of the 15th edition of the Keep an Eye International Jazz Award, held on April 16th at the BIMHUIS in Amsterdam, was a resounding celebration of exceptional jazz talent from across Europe and the United States.

This competition brings together outstanding young musicians from top institutions: Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (Barcelona, Spain), Jazz Performance Programme NTNU (Trondheim, Norway), Berklee College of Music (Boston, USA), Manhattan School of Music (New York, USA), and the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. The jury for this anniversary edition was made up of five esteemed experts from the international music scene: Frank van Berkel (programmer at BIMHUIS and former musician), Zack Lober (bassist and composer leading The Ancestry Project and NO FILL3R), Maite Hontelé (Latin Grammy-nominated trumpeter and conductor of the NJJO), Jonas Burgwinkel (award-winning drummer known for his unique style), and Michelle Kuypers (talent scout and programmer for North Sea Jazz and MOJO). The event was presented by renowned singer and host Giovanca.

In this special edition, the music of the legendary Billie Holiday took center stage. Each ensemble selected a piece from a carefully curated selection of her repertoire and created a personal, distinctive arrangement. The results were as diverse as they were impressive—ranging from fragile, intimate interpretations to bold and energetic reimaginings. These various takes not only highlighted the timeless power of her work but also showcased the rich imagination and artistic depth of these young musicians.

Without further ado, we present to you the winners!
