Akwasi Ansah
Akwasi Owusu Ansah (1988), known to the general public as Akwasi, is a musician, poet, performer, actor and founder/creative director of Omroep ZWART. He started rapping at the age of fourteen and five years later founded the group Zwart Licht, with whom he made four albums and established an enormous live reputation. In 2014, he released his first solo album on his own music label, Neerlands Dope. He also emerged as a poet, writer, spoken word performer and (voice) actor. In addition, he gives workshops and is a presenter and discussion leader on television, radio and at various events.
In 2020, he founded Omroep ZWART together with Gianni Lieuw-A-Soe, where he has been creative director since then. With this broadcaster, he campaigns for more diversity, inclusion and equality, themes that are also central to his artistic work. On behalf of the NPO, he has been a member of the TV Committee of the European Broadcasting Union since 2023, representing all thirteen Dutch broadcasters, including Omroep ZWART. He has been vice-chairman of this committee since 2025.
