Edwin van Huis (1958) has a great track record within institutes at the intersection of science and heritage. As director of Naturalis Biodiversity Center (Naturalis), he leads the scientific centre in which biodiversity research in the Netherlands is concentrated, as well as the museum attached to the institute.

Before his time at Naturalis, he was, among other things, general director of the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision and business director of the Rijksmuseum. He has a university background in business administration (Erasmus University Rotterdam) and biology (University of Utrecht and University of Florida).
