Doing the accounts might not be your favourite pastime, but you’ll find it a lot easier after this module. You never know, you might even start enjoying it! But don’t worry, that doesn’t mean you have to choose to do it all yourself – you can make good use of your new knowledge working alongside your accountant.

Class 1 | Accounting: From quotation to payment

It’s time to dust off your calculator, we’re about to dive into the figures. We’ll look at the opening balance sheet, preparing quotations, negotiating contracts, invoicing and collecting payment. In this session you’ll build a solid foundation for your accounting.

Class 2 | Accounting: Costs, expenses and VAT

You going to need a clear understanding of your own finances, of your business figures. So we’re going to dive deeper into your accounts. We’ll be looking at general ledger accounts, journal entries, business costs, investments and depreciations: you’ll learn the language your account uses.

Class 3 | Accounting: Income statement and closing balance sheet

Now that you’ve got the hang of doing your accounts, there’s just a few more things to take care of. Like, what should you do with your bank statements? And how should you process cash payments? What do you need to know about private expenses – withdrawals from your business for personal use? You’ll also learn everything you need to know about income statements and closing balance sheets.

Class 4 | Accounting: Income tax

You’ll need to file an income tax return every year. How do you go about completing the form? What is the Small Business Scheme (kleineondernemersregeling, KOR)? What is an SME discount (MKB-korting)? What deductions are you entitled to claim? It will all be explained to you in minute detail – after all, you don’t want to pay more tax than you need to.
