Databases, catalogues and websites selected by AHK libraries

Apart from their own catalogue the libraries of the Amsterdam University of the Arts have also signed license agreements with several providers of specialized databases. Included are also some interesting websites and catalogues.

Academia Sound and Vision
Video and audio material from the archives of the Dutch Institute for Sound and Vision. Students and staff members can login with their MyAHK account by clicking Inloggen met Surf. In Dutch only.

Adamnet
AdamNet is a collaboration of libraries in Amsterdam, ranging from EYE, OBA, UB, Atria, Boekmanstichting to libraries of museums in Amsterdam. The collections of 18 libraries can be searched via a group catalogue.

Artdiscovery
Artdiscovery is a group of international art WorldCat libraries, such as the Getty Research Institute. In the Netherlands, the National Museum and the National Art History Department are connected. This group catalogue facilitates searching through the catalogues of the connected art libraries. For a broader search, go to WorldCat (see there).

Delpher
A collection of about 1 million pages of Dutch newspapers, books and magazines. In Dutch only.

Dictionaries

Google Scholar
Google Scholar offers a way to search for academic literature. You can find information from a wide variety of disciplines and sources.

HathiTrust
A large-scale collaborative repository of digital content from research institutes and libraries. Full-text search across the entire repository.

HBO Kennisbank
Searches through thousands of publications of 27 universities of applied sciences.

JSTOR
JSTOR connects libraries, researchers, teachers, and students with vital scholarly content in more than 50 disciplines. The AHK has a license for Arts & Sciences III.

RKD Nederlands Instituut voor Kunstgeschiedenis
Catalogue of the library's collection focuses on Western art from the late Middle Ages up to the present. Along with many more recent monographs and general publications on art, there are also early and rare editions. Other important sub-collections are artists' books, and collection and exhibition catalogues. The collection of sales catalogues contains many copies annotated with prices, buyer's names, and other information.

Bodleian Library Broadside Ballads

Boosey & Hawkes online scores

ChoralWiki: The choral public domain library
Hosts free scores of choral and vocal works, texts, translations and other useful information.

CMME: computerized mensural music editing
A scholarly initiative to offer free online access to new, high-quality early music scores produced by today's leading experts. Based at Utrecht University in the Netherlands, the project represents a collaborative development effort of specialists in musicology, information science, and music retrieval.

DIAMM: digital image archive of medieval music

Donemus
Publisher Donemus is well known for their catalogue with more than 14.000 works from contemporary Dutch composers. Now it is possible for students and teachers of the AHK to view, download and print their scores. 

Early Music Online
This collection in the British Libarary holds digitized images of some of the world’s oldest surviving volumes of printed music. 

The Global jukebox

Nederlandse liederenbank
The Dutch Song Database (Nederlandse Liederenbank in Dutch) contains more than 175,000 songs in the Dutch and Flemish language, from the Middle Ages through the twentieth century. The main sources for all these songs are songbooks, songsheets (broadsides), song manuscripts and fieldwork recordings.
