Don’t forget other important types of insurances
Dutch Law states that you are responsible for paying the cost in case you damage someone else’s property or cause an accident. We therefore expect students to take out a liability insurance.
A liability insurance is not expensive (not much more than a couple of euro’s per month) and if something does happen you will thank yourself for it. Here you’ll find an idea on where and for how much you can get a liability insurance: https://www.aansprakelijkheidsverzekering.org/eng/compare-liability-insurance/.
Home insurance (household content insurance)
If you rent an apartment or a room in the Netherlands, you want to be sure that your personal possessions are covered by an insurance, because there is always a small chance that something unexpected happens, like a fire or a burglary. For more info you can check this website on student insurances.
