Last month, 18 pupils from NBA 3 and 14 pupils from NBA 6 and 7 appeared in Rudi van Dantzig’s Romeo and Julia. Created in 1967, the production was the first full-length classical ballet to be made in the Netherlands, but it is still moving audiences deeply today. ‘Dutch National Ballet has struck gold with Romeo and Julia’, said one critic.
The same can be said of the magical production of The Nutcracker & the Mouse King, by Toer van Schayk and Wayne Eagling, which will be performed sixteen times in Dutch National Opera & Ballet, from 14 December. No fewer than 47 children from NBA 1, 2 and 3 will take part in this production, as skaters, children at the party, mice and soldiers. In addition, 35 Bachelor’s students will appear in the Russian dance, the Chinese dance and the famous Waltz of the Snowflakes.
