The Executive Board of the Amsterdam University of the Arts has appointed Laura Cull Ó Maoilearca as Professor and head of DAS Graduate School with effect from 1 September. In this position she gives leadership to DAS Graduate School, bringing together the master's programmes of the Academy of Theatre and Dance and the research initiatives of the DAS Research department (THIRD) and of the BA programmes. Laura Cull Ó Maoilearca succeeds professor Marijke Hoogenboom, who made her transfer last year to the Faculty of Performing Arts and Film at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste in Switzerland.
Laura Cull Ó Maoilearca received her PhD in Drama from the University of Exeter and is currently director of the Center for Performance Philosophy, part of the Guildford School of Acting, at the University of Surrey in Great Britain. The Guildford School of Acting is one of the world's leading theatre academies. Here she conducts research into the philosophical dimensions of theater and performance. She has published several books and articles on Performance Philosophy and is an expert on the work of philosophers such as Gilles Deleuze, François Laruelle and Alain Badiou. She has earned her stripes as a leading researcher in theatre sciences both in Great Britain and internationally.
