Summer Schools 2025

Expand your artistic network with the Shared Campus Summer Schools 2025!

The AHK is a partner of Shared Campus, offering our students the opportunity for international collaboration and the broadening of their artistic perspective.

International Collaboration

Shared Campus is a partnership between 13 international art universities, providing various Summer Schools where art students from different countries can meet and work together on current issues.

Two Summer Schools

The AHK is connected to two Shared Campus Summer Schools: Hacking Global Pop Icons and Creative Appropriation of Contested Spaces. The latter will take place in the summer of 2025 in Amsterdam, at the Marineterrein and the AHK Culture Club.

Summer School: Campus Amsterdam

Creative Appropriation of Contested Spaces: Arts and Heritage from a Social Justice Perspective

Date: 11 to 29 Augusts 2025 (the first week of which takes place online).
Tutors: Jeanne van Heeswijk (visual artist) in collaboration with teachers from Zurich and Singapore and study leaders from the AHK (Menno Welling - AMHS/RWA and Gabriela Acosta Camacho - Master's in Art Education).

What are you going to do?
Many cities grapple with contested spaces shaped by their histories. Artists often lead the way in transforming these spaces, offering cultural critiques. Amsterdam's Marineterrein, a former naval site, is one such example. This Summer School explores its past, present, and artistic interventions, culminating in projects addressing societal issues.

Summer School: Campus Zürich

Hacking Global Pop Icons

Date: 4 to 22 Augusts 2025 (the first week of which takes place online).
Tutors behalf of the AHK: Josephine van Schaik (Pop/CvA) alongside tutors from Zürich, Hongkong and Taipei.

What are you going to do?
This Summer School has a strong focus on practice-based transcultural and interdisciplinary collaboration. The participants agree on a global pop icon as a common starting point for cultural analysis, discussing their different perspectives and from there create art works, performances or interventions, which will be presented in the form of a joint public event.
