That means bookkeeping, setting your rates, applying for funding, taxes, building your portfolio and raising your profile. The AHK Starterscafé is a pop-up café in AHK Culture Club, full of extra-curricular workshops. Grab a drink at the bar and get to know current and former students who – just like you- want to live from their creativity. At 7pm an inspiring teacher will start sharing all the tricks of the trade. Monday in English, Tuesday in Dutch. The agenda items below tell you what is going on the upcoming months. Register now!
What you’ll get from this session
The future’s beckoning. Your head’s buzzing with ideas. So, what next? This evening you’ll learn all about the first essential steps to getting your project financed. What are the building blocks for an impressive project plan? What’s a budget and financing plan, and what are they for? What are the basics a project financer looks for in these plans? You’ll also learn about various kinds of fundraising, including subsidies, crowdfunding and friend systems.
About Jill Senhorst
The instructor is Jill Senhorst. She works as a program advisor at the Fonds voor Cultuurparticipatie and previously worked for private cultural funds, social organizations, and the municipality of Utrecht. She also followed her dream and started Kommer & Kunst. A small business for (visual) artists with a starting professional practice. Jill offers a listening ear for starting artists and guides them in sharpening their direction forward, with artistic identity as a starting point.

The teacher will tell you everything you need to know when starting up, opening the doors to a new world. We provide the pen and paper, so you can note down all the tips and tricks.
Get to work
Roll up your sleeves, because we’re going put what you’ve learned into practice right away. Sometimes the teacher will ask you to work with a specific case study, but usually you’ll be applying it to your own situation.

- Free for current students and recent graduates (from 2019 onwards).
- € 12.50 for AHK alumni who graduated before 2019.
