About Jean-Baptiste Leclère
Jean-Baptiste Leclère has been holding a position as 1st Percussion solo playing timpani in the Opéra National de Paris Orchestra since 2013, after being successfully accepted as an 2nd Percussion playing timpani in 2007. He studied percussions with Daniel Sauvage, then Michel Gastaud before joining the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris in 2005 in Michel Cerutti, Florent Jodelet and Eric Sammut's classes. His determination to bring together French eclectic percussion personalities drove him to found the Paris Percussion Group in 2014. He is the Artistic Director with Vassilena Serafimova and works with composers as Philippe Manoury, Yan Maresz, Philippe Schoeller, Alexandros Markeas or even Yann Robin.

His keen interest in orchestral percussion draws him to host regularly masterclasses and clinics in France as well as overseas (United States, Canada, Columbia, Greece, Italy, Bulgaria, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Holland, Taiwan, Australia). He also attends various concerts as a soloist and in Chamber Music (Percussion and Marimba Festival of Bulgaria, Shanghai Concert Hall, Radio France, Opéra National de Paris, Teatro Major Santo Domingo, Australian Percussion Gathering...). Among other things he recorded Rauche Pinselspitze II by Klaus Huber with the cellist Alexis Descharmes (Awards for best instrumental record of the Académie Charles Cros). Attracted by the world of dance, he took part in the elaboration and the creation of Musique et Danse evenings in Palais Garnier in 2012 with Brigitte Lefèvre, then in 2014 with Benjamin Millepied.

He then worked with choreographers such as Sébastien Bertaud, Bruno Bouché and Simon Valastro. He carried on this experience Incidence Chorégraphique with the director Bruno Bouché on the stage of the Théâtre de Sens or again in Taiwan during the Duo Nanaformosa Academy in 2015. At the same time as he keeps up with his performing, JBL teaches at the CRR in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés, at the Conservatoire de Paris (CNSMDP), at the CNMSD de Lyon and in the Académie Eurocuivres (France and Asia). In September 2022, he participated to the first Tour of the new international Orchestra Utopia conducting by Teodor Currentzis. He is still a Zildjian, Black Swamp Percussion and Bergerault artist. He has also been a member of the symphonic committee for the Percussive Art Society since 2016.
