Conservatorium van Amsterdam, given by Sandrine Chatron
With the participation of conductor Ed Spanjaard and Maaike Aarts, Alexander Technique
The yearly audition training for harpists will be given by Sandrine Chatron, solo harpist with the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, and teacher at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and the Haute Ecole de Musique de Genève.
The audition training takes the form of an orchestral repertoire coaching course, focusing on audition preparation, providing the opportunity for mock auditions, and a final audition with a professional jury at the end of the course. The winner of the final audition will be invited to play one programme with the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra during the next season.
The main purpose of the training is to provide the opportunity to experience an audition situation at first hand, and all that that entails - the sense of competition, the possibility of stage fright, and the level of concentration needed. These specific issues and other topics will be approached directly, enabling the participants to master their skills in preparation for an audition. The work will be done on an individual and a group basis.
The training will take place from 1-4 December 2023 at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. Harps from different brands are provided by the Conservatory. The training is open to CvA students, to external students and young professionals. A maximum of 8 participants can join the training.
