Join us for the final seminar in the Climate Imaginaries series! In this Artist in Residence programme of the Academy of Theatre and Dance two artistic studios investigate the question of the role of art and imagination in responding to climate crisis.
Guest speakers: Dorothy Blokland + Agat Sharma | ASCA Respondent: Laura Cull Ó Maoilearca
No need to register, just show up. All welcome.
Agat Sharma - Putting Eyes on Mountains
Agat will share his thoughts on how to possibly enact other subjectivities in the theatre that go beyond the narrowly defined category of the 'human' from a majoritarian/authoritarian perspective. His provocation for this encounter is to think of ways to make the category of the 'human' redundant because it has not served well for many of us and think of how theatre can be the place to think about this together with others. He will open up these lines of thought by sharing excerpts from his previous work and the projects he is currently developing as part of the Artist in Residence at the Academy of Theatre and Dance.
Dorothy Blokland - Power of Water
In this interactive sharing, Dorothy will share insights and practices related to her ongoing research on the Power of Water project. Power of Water conducts transdisciplinary research in collaboration with a network of children’s museums and youth programmes in the Netherlands, Suriname and Curaçao. Together they investigate how young people can exchange perspectives on the relationship between climate change and colonialism through spoken word and photography.
