The Academy of Architecture has invited Rietveld Landscape to deliver the annual Midsummer Night Lecture on 29 June at 7:30 pm. For this lecture the Academy regularly invites speakers who make interesting contributions to the professional discussion. Previous speakers have included Ton Schaap, Gino Zucchi, Michael van Gessel, Michel Desvigne and Hans Kollhoff.

Ronald and Erik Rietveld are the driving forces behind the design and research office Rietveld Landscape. The young office shows how new design challenges can still be found in times of crisis. It has won prestigious prizes as the Prix de Rome for Architecture and the Rotterdam Design Prize. ‘Vacant NL’, their contribution to the Venice Architecture Biennale, caused a stir around the world and plays an important role in the professional discussion about the innovative reuse of buildings. The title of their lecture is ‘Towards a new agenda for architecture’.
