On 7 October during the Festival Nederlandse Dansdagen,  SNDO alumnus Giulio d'Anna won the Dioraphte Dansprijs, a prize for dance productions with international potential.

The cash sum of  € 5000,- was made available by the Stichting Dioraphte to promote the prize-winning work abroad.

This year the jury consisted of Anita van Dolen (dance programmer for the Stadsschouwburg Amsterdam/Julidans), Roberto Casarotto (Opera Estate/BMotionfestival, Italy) and Natasa Georgiou (European Dance Festival, Cyprus).

Parkin’son and Giulio D’Anna
Parkin´son spotlights the relation between a father and his son. Personal occurrences and shared histories, incisive or trivial, seep through their exteriors. Together they relate the story of the  unique bond between parent and child. ‘A play that makes us reminisce and look ahead. A play that will move you.’

In his work Giulio D’Anna looks for a way to translate theatre to a contemporary form. Drama, desire and humour are key concepts of his work. He works regularly with nb projects and in past years, his dance productions have been staged in Holland, Italy, Spain and Germany. In 2011, Giulio won the Equilibrio dance festival; with this prize it was possible to create the production Parkin’son. Currently Giulio works together with Dansateliers Rotterdam and is collaborating with the European project “Transparent Boundaries” that focuses on older dancers.
