Maarten Hogenhuis Trio wins the Keep an Eye International Jazz Award 2013

Maarten Hogenhuis Trio of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, won the Keep an Eye International Jazz Award 2013 in the lively and crowded final in the Bimhuis yesterday evening. Second prize was awarded to the Juilliard Jazz Artist Diploma Ensemble from Juilliard School of Music New York.

Maarten Hogenhuis Trio of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, won the Keep an Eye International Jazz Award 2013 in the lively and crowded final in the Bimhuis yesterday evening. Second prize was awarded to the Juilliard Jazz Artist Diploma Ensemble from Juilliard School of Music New York.

The jury: Frank Bolder (North Sea Jazz Festival), Simon Rigter (Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw), Riccardo Del Fra (Head of Jazz Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris), Kai Eckhardt (John Mclaughlin Trio) and chairman Ruud van Dijk (Head of Jazz CvA), awarded the first prize of € 2500,- to Maarten Hogenhuis Trio (Maarten Hogenhuis, alto saxophone; Joan Terol Amigó, drums; Thomas Rolff, double bass). Second prize was awarded to the Juilliard Jazz Artist Diploma Ensemble from Juilliard School of Music New York (€ 1250,-). Maarten Hogenhuis was also awarded the prize for 'best soloist'. 'Best arrangement of an Ellington-song' was awarded to Juilliard Jazz Artist Diploma Ensemble from Juilliard School of Music New York, which wrote the two winning arrangements.
