Academy of Architecture open during Day of Architecture

Published on

During the Day of Architecture on June 23, around forty buildings will open their doors to the public. The Amsterdam Academy of Architecture will participate by offering an architecture workshop for interested students, and the workshop for children ‘Build your dream house’.

Are you considering an education in architecture, urbanism or landscape architecture to build on your higher vocational or technical degree? The Academy of Architecture is where architects and other designers in the Netherlands gain their interdisciplinary education. During the Day of Architecture, everyone is invited to visit the historical building complex in the center of Amsterdam, which was built in 1654, and used as a homeless shelter in the 17th century and as a warehouse in more recent history.

Program
Children can build their dream house, interested students can enjoy the workshop ‘Building a city’, and our study advisors are happy to answer any questions about the master’s courses. The entries for the Archiprix 2013 - the prize for the best graduation project of all Dutch design academies - are displayed in the academy building, and the cafeteria will serve archi-sandwiches designed by architects.

Day of Architecture
The Day of Architecture is an annual event, organized by ARCAM (Architectural Center Amsterdam) and the BNA (Dutch Association of Architects). Visitors get the chance to admire architectural wonders that are usually not open to the public. The day is all about new or future designs, unknown places and fringes. The program consists of lectures, excursions, tours, workshops, junior entertainment and more. Please refer to www.dagvandearchitectuur.nl for the complete program.

Time and place
Sunday June 23 2013, opening hours between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Waterlooplein 213 in Amsterdam. The workshops will take place between 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM. Free entrance.
