Honorable mention for Abel Paúl and Emre Kaleli at Gaudeamus Prize 2013

CvA alumni Abel Paúl (1984, Spain) and Emre Kaleli (1987, Turkey) have received an honorable mention at the final of the Gaudeamus Prize 2013, a composition competition which is held every year during the Gaudeamus Muziekweek, the international festival for new music. In total, more than 200 compositions were submitted for the Gaudeamus Prize 2013. Composers with an honorable mention are invited to return next year and submit a new or recent (uncommissioned) work to be performed at the festival.

Abel Paúl received the honorable mention for his work The end of lines for two flutes, oboe, two clarinets, alto saxophone, percussion, harp, piano, celesta, harpsichord and cello, which was performed by Insomnio in the Geertekerk, Utrecht. Emre Kalali received his for his composition Il voto dell'innocenza for two clarinets, sine waves, midi keyboard, piano, percussion, electric guitar, double bass. This work was performed by Ensemble Modelo62 in RASA, Utrecht.

Abel Paúl graduated from the CvA Composition Department in 2009, Emre Kaleli in 2012.
