Thalia Ensemble wins York Early Music Young Artists Competition 2013

The Thalia Ensemble have won the prestigious York Early Music International Young Artists Competition 2013. The wind quintet on historical instruments, with CvA-alumni Belén Nieto Galan, flute; Sarah Aßmann, oboe; Diederik Ornée, clarinet; Hylke Rozema, natural horn, and José Rodrigues Gomes, bassoon, stood out against ten ensembles from the UK, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Denmark. The jury praised the excellent interaction and vivid communication amongst the musicians, as well as with the audience. In addition to prize money and a concert at the next year’s York Festival, the ensemble receives a CD recording with Linn Records.
