Capita Selecta 'Arts and Architecture': vijf lezingen over architectuur als culturele daad

In April and May the Amsterdam Academy of Architecture organizes a new series of Capita Selecta lectures titled Arts and Architecture. In this series we focus on architecture as a cultural act rather than a mere economical activity.

The past ten to fifteen years the Dutch architectural practice has had a strong focus on the financial and economical aspects of the building activity. Building was mainly an economical act, instead of a cultural expression. At a time in which the economical motives behind the act of building seem to have vanished we focus in this lecture series on the cultural aspect of our profession. To recalibrate architecture as a cultural act, in dialogue with and embedded within the rich tradition of the arts.

The Capita Selecta lecture series Arts and Architecture is organized by architect Jarrik Ouburg, Head of the department of Architecture at the Amsterdam Academy of Achitecture.

Starting Thursday April 3rd, 20h00, with Frank Havermans. Followed by Mauricio Pezo and Sofia von Ellrichshausen (April 10th), Filip Dujardin (April 17th), Gabriel Lester (April 24th), and Antonio Ortiz (May 1st).

Date and time
The lectures are open to the public and take place at the Amsterdam Academy of Architecture, Waterlooplein 213, Amsterdam. All lectures start at 20.00 hrs. and admission is free.
