First prize for Maria Kouznetsova at prestigious violin competition in Chengdu

Violinist Maria Kouznetsova has won first prize at the 2014 China Guang Ya Chengdu International Violin Competition.

In the first round she played works by Bach, Mozart and Schumann, in the second round Paganini and Wieniawski, and in the final she played Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in e.

Maria studies with Ilya Grubert in the master degree programme at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. She plays the conservatory ‘Testore’, a violin built by the famous violin maker Carlo Giuseppe Testore (Novara, ± 1665 - 1716).
