Graduation film ‘Onno de Onwetende’ wins prize in San Sebastian

The graduation film ‘Onno de Onwetende’ has won the prestigious Orona Saria Award at the San Sebastian International Film Festival for ‘Most Cutting Edge Film’ – the most original and groundbreaking film. The award comes with a €5,000 prize.

The graduation film 'Onno de Onwetende' has won the prestigious Orona Saria Award at the San Sebastian International Film Festival for ‘Most Cutting Edge Film’ – the most original and groundbreaking film. The award comes with a €5,000 prize.

The film was screened at the international student competition along with 13 other student shorts from all over the world.

‘Onno de Onwetende’ was directed by Viktor van der Valk, the screenplay was written by Viktor van der Valk and Jeroen Scholten van Aschat; Hanne Sinninghe and Erik Glijnis were the film’s producers.

The film tells the story of Onno, who falls victim to a strange feeling – a feeling that he knows, but doesn’t understand.

‘Onno de Onwetende’ was being shown at the Netherlands Film Festival in Utrecht, in October at the Bejing International Student Film and Video Festival, and at the Internationale Kurzfilmtage Winterthur festival in Switzerland.

The lead roles are played by: Vincent van der Valk, Reinout Scholten van Aschat, Genelva Lo-Kioeng-Shioe and Evelien Bosmans.

‘Onno de Onwetende’ was broadcasted on 2 October on NPO 2. The film was made in collaboration with the NTR.
