‘If mama ain’t happy, nobody’s happy’ selected for IDFA

The graduation film ‘If mama ain’t happy, nobody’s happy’ has been selected for the IDFA Competition for Student Documentary. The 27th IDFA will be taking place from 19 to 30 November.

The graduation film ‘If mama ain’t happy, nobody’s happy’ has been selected for the IDFA Competition for Student Documentary. The 27th IDFA will be taking place from 19 to 30 November. 

The film, along with 12 other international student documentaries, will be entered in the IDFA Award for Best Student Documentary.

‘If mama ain’t happy, nobody’s happy’ was directed by Mea de Jong (directing documentary, Class of 2014) and produced by Juul Op den Kamp (production, Class of 2014) and Chris Stenger (production, Class of 2014). At the Netherlands Film Festival, the producers received the Filmproducenten Nederland (Dutch Film Producers’) Award. The film has already won the NCP Holland Publieksprijs (Audience Prize) at the Keep an Eye Filmacademie Festival.

‘If mama ain’t happy, nobody’s happy’ explores the parent-child relationship when the child has flown the nest. Who is it that actually suffers from empty nest syndrome?
