Saxophonist Katharina Thomsen wins IB.SH-JazzAward

Alumna Katharina Thomsen has won the IB.SH-JazzAward at the JazzBaltica Festival in Kiel, Germany.

The prize, an amount of € 3.000,-, is awarded every year to a young musician, to be put towards career development.

‘Katharina  Thomsen is a virtuoso  baritone saxophonist and bass clarinettist. With her exciting compositions and passionate performances on stage, she is a very inpsiring musician,’ says Erk Westermann-Lammers, president of IB.SH.

Since graduating from the CvA’s master’s degree programme in 2008, Katharina Thomsen has embarked on an international career as a baritone saxophonist, composer and arranger.
