Gentrification
Bosman: "I wanted to explore how gentrification in the city, the transformation processes that are highly visible in various neighborhoods in East Amsterdam, effects a traditional place as the Dapper market. The market is often romanticized as an authentic place where the 'pure' meeting between entrepreneur, customer and product in a world increasingly privatized is unique. But the world, the neighborhood and the desires of consumers are changing. How do market entrepreneurs for 40 years on the market experience these changes? What opportunities see newcomers? Which traditional values should be preserved, what is lost and comes in its place? In the selected topics of the curriculum, and this film I could combine theory and daily life. Along with the filmmakers David Djindjikhachvili and Allard Zoetman, we went in search of the genius loci of the Dappermarket and tried to catch it from the perspective of the entrepreneurs."

Remeniscing
Reinwardt Academy was housed over 20 year at the Dapperstraat in Amsterdam East. As of August 2015 the location of the Academy is Hortusplantsoen. The move degenerates working in the immediate vicinity of the Dappermarket for staff and students to a memory. Ritually early July they will say goodbye to the neighborhood and see the movie. The Amsterdam television station AT5 broadcasted the movie on Thursday June 18.

"The Market Size" was made in partnership with TAAK, the Karel Appel House Ground Floor, Ymere, District East, Stichting Het Amsterdamsche Fonds and Housing Corporation's Key.
