From 2010-2013 lecturer Jan Peter Wingender lead the international lectureship program An exacting Material: Tectonics in Contemporary Brick Architecture. Together with his assistant architect Uri Gilad and students and teachers of the Academy he examined the state of affairs concerning the use of the commonly used material brick. The study focused on the expressive possibilities offered by the material and the underlying question of how and why architects use it. Brick. An exacting material tectonics in contemporary Dutch brick architecture presents the result of this research.

The book contains many drawings and photographs and contributions from various specialists, including Aart Oxenaar (architectural history), Louise Schouwenberg (design and materials), Baukje Trenning (Amsterdam), Udo Garritzmann (tectonics), Machiel Spaan, Hans van der Heijden, Jeroen Geurst, Harrie Vekemans (legislation), and Jaapjan Berg (interviews). Graphic designer Joost Grootens made the book design.
The book is available at Architectura & Natura, Leliegracht 22 in Amsterdam, or can be ordered online via Architectura.nl. Academy students get 10 percent off the retail price.
