During the golden age of the baroque guitar, Italy saw the development of a unique solo repertoire, in which chord strumming and lute-like styles were mixed. Italian Guitar Music of the Seventeenth Century: Battuto and Pizzicato explores this little-known repertoire, providing historical background and examining particular performance issues.

This new volume in the distinguished 'Eastman Studies in Music' series has been published with financial and editorial support from the research division of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.

On Thursday, 28 January, the book will be launched in the Sweelinckzaal of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with a presentation by the author, some brief addresses, music, and a reception afterwards. The meeting will begin at 7.30 p.m.
