From 20 to 30 October, the Junior Company (a joint initiative of Dutch National Ballet and the National Ballet Academy) went on a tour of Spain. In the far-flung towns of Vitoria-Gasteiz, Murcia, Alicante, Sant Cugat and Alcobendas, the company presented an extremely varied programme with great success. In the spring of 2017, the Junior Company will be touring the Netherlands with a new programme entitled Juniors Go Dutch.
The Junior Company also toured Spain in 2014, but this year the company performed there in a new line-up, which included former NBA students Khayla Fitzpatrick, Hannah Williams, Theo Duff-Grant, Timothy van Poucke and Jacob Roter.
The touring programme comprised:
the pas de trois from Le Corsaire
Embers by artistic coordinator/choreographer Ernst Meisner
Ballet 101 by the German choreographer Eric Gauthier
Blink by the Spanish choreographer Juanjo Arques
Autumn Haze by choreographer and former artistic director of Dutch National Ballet, Rudi van Dantzig
Trois Gnossiennes by choreographer and patron of the National Ballet Academy, Hans van Manen
No Time Before Time by artistic coordinator/choreographer Ernst Meisner
