The management of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam is pleased to announce that Edoardo Righini has been appointed as the new Associate Director, responsible for the departments of Jazz and Pop.

He succeeds by January 1, 2017, Mr Ruud van Dijk, who has led the Jazz and Pop departments for nearly twenty years, with great accomplishments.

Edoardo Righini has been teaching Guitar, Ensembles, Music Management and Methodology at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam for thirteen years. Additionally, he is responsible for the development and implementation of the successful online educational platform CvA Oline.

Immediately after graduating from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam in 2003, Edo Righini established himself in the international music scene, working as a jazz guitarist with dedication and devotion with an impressive number of artists. He played with jazz and pop icons such as Dee Dee Bridgewater, Mike Mainieri, Bob Malach, Rick Margitza, Terri Lyne Carrington, Mitchel Forman, Stephen Simmonds, Kim Thompson and Benny Bailey. He performed worldwide at prestigious jazz festivals and was often praised as ‘virtuoso musician’ and ‘phenomenal guitarist’.

Janneke van der Wijk, director of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, is thrilled about his nomination: ‘With Edo Righini the Conservatorium van  Amsterdam gets a very skilled jazz musician with management skills and an impressive record of accomplishments in music education. He has a clear vision of the development of our institute in general and of the Jazz and Pop departments in particular. We look  forward to a successful and long-lasting cooperation!’
