Landscape architect Gert-Jan Wisse graduated in 2014 from the Master of Landscape Architecture of the Amsterdam Academy of Architecture with a design strategy for the mental and physical scars of Belfast. Based on the suggestion of the Northern Ireland government that the ‘Peace Lines’ should be gone by the year 2020, this project explores the possible meaning and value of these vacant spaces, within the context of a city that would slowly move towards an integrated society. A total of 385 projects were selected to participate in Archiprix International. Of these, 23 graduation projects - including that of Gert-Jan Wisse - were selected to participate in the Hunter Douglas Award, comprising a trophy and a cash prize.
