19 March 18:00 hrs ID.OS - IDlab Open Studio - Frederick Rodrigues (creative technology/performance)

Published on

In the new series ID.OS - IDlab Open Studio - progressive artists present their innovative interdisciplinary practice. From electronic music to video games, and from music videos to Instagram documentaries. How does that creative process proceed: from idea, to design, to the finished result? What role do the internet and social networks play? And how can you work together effectively?

In this fifth edition we welcome Frederick Rodrigues. Frederick will present his work with head-mounted display (HMD) technology that uses forms of immersive and mixed reality for performance, installation and video. His presentation will offer insight into both his work and his way of working: through an evolution from two-dimensional screen-based work, to 360° immersive videos and real-time volumetric video in virtual reality -  his current work at IDLab.

Frederick Rodrigues has worked extensively with choreographers, performance artists and theatre makers. His current project synk evolved from a collaboration with choreographer Setareh Fatehi. Setareh and Frederick have collaborated on many projects over the last 6 years. Synk draws heavily from both of their research, particularly Setareh’s work with virtual presence and how bodies transform and transcend these spaces and how this feeds back into our perceptions.

Soup and drinks will be served at the end of ID.OS E05.
You are all invited!
