Saxophonist and  CvA teacher Jasper Blom has won the Buma Boy Edgar Prize 2019, a major prize in the Netherlands for jazz and improvised music. He will receive the prize, consisting of an amount of € 12,500 and a bronze sculpture by Jan Wolkers, during a concert on 4 December 2019 at the Bimhuis. 

Other (former) CvA teachers who have won the Bum Boy Edgar Prize are Tineke Postma (2015), Yuri Honing (2012), Ferdinand Povel (2011) and Anton Goudsmit (2010).
