Pianist Ralph van Raat has won the ‘Ovatie 2019’. Ralph receives the award for his programme in honour of the 80th birthday of Dutch composer Louis Andriessen.
From the jury report: ‘With his crystal clear, inspired playing, Van Raat gave a glimpse into the music of the most famous composer of the Netherlands, and explained it with feeling.’
The Ovatie is a classical music prize awarded by the Association of Theater and Concert Hall Directorates (VSCD) and consists of a sculpture and a tour of various concert halls that are affiliated with the VSCD.
Ralph van Raat studied piano with Ton Hartsuiker and Willem Brons at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and Musicology at the University of Amsterdam. He teaches at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.
