Financial compensation for students who are delayed in their graduation

Published on

On Friday 15 May, the Dutch government determined that students who are delayed in their graduation this year will receive a financial contribution. It concerns students who would graduate this academic year, but are delayed due to the corona crisis. There will also be financial compensation for students whose entitlement to a basic and additional grant expires.

Study delay
Students who are currently in the last year of their studies and who are delayed due to the corona crisis, have no option to make up for this delay in later years. Students who are no longer able to graduate this academic year because of the corona crisis and therefore have to re-register for the coming academic year will receive financial compensation from the government if they still graduate between September 2020 and January 2021. This compensation is € 535 for students in higher professional education, which equates to about three months of tuition.

Additional grant
The government is also releasing money for students whose entitlement to a basic grant and additional grant expires. That is why those students whose entitlement to their scholarship expires in July, August and September receive one-off financial support. For higher education students with an additional grant, this is a one-time support of € 1,500.

As soon as more is known about this measures, we will communicate this.
