Start of the 2020-2021 academic year

Published on

Today, Monday 31 August, sees the official start of the new academic year. All students and staff members will be warmly welcomed again in the buildings on the Oosterdokskade and the Atlantisplein. We have made all the necessary adjustments to create a good, safe educational environment at both locations and to ensure the health of our students and staff.

The Conservatorium van Amsterdam kicks off the week with an introduction programme for all new students. The programme will be opened online by director Janneke van der Wijk, followed by an online presentation by the various departments. After that, students have the opportunity to meet their fellow students at the conservatory in small groups. For students who cannot yet be physically present due to travel restrictions or quarantine measures, the programme will be streamed online.

As of 7 September the lessons will start. The lessons will take place in the buildings as much as possible, depending on the regulations. If the COVID-19 measures do not allow lessons on location, online or 'blended' lessons are provided. Activities and concerts are also planned again, in which all government measures will be taken into account.

Although this academic year will be different from previous years, it will be a wonderful and unforgettable year!
