Academy of Architecture Management Update

Published on

The management team is pleased to announce a number of changes. This spring, Henri Snel started working as education manager. He is succeeding Patricia Ruisch in this position, who fulfilled this role with verve. Henri Snel is an architect, lecturer and alumnus of the Amsterdam Academy of Architecture, Form studies coordinator and, since April, education manager at our Academy.

Teaching and education design has always fascinated me. Over the course of the years, I’ve been given the opportunity to develop and implement a wide range of educational models. I’m especially interested in the role that cognition plays in relation to physical activities. How can we make optimal use of all our capacities to advance education? Various interests of mine come together in the role of education manager. I’m very much looking forward to further developing the Master’s programme together with students, lecturers and staff.' Now that Henri has joined the management team, his position as Form studies coordinator will be assumed by Marlies Boterman as of 1 June 2021. She has already been working as guest lecturer and coordinator of the minor in Architecture at the Academy of Architecture for many years. Marlies Boterman has worked internationally for leading firms, such as OMA, Inside Outside and SevilPeach, and has had her own company working as an architect, interior architect and furniture maker since 2012.

Details and craftsmanship are seamlessly interwoven into her designs. By exploring sustainable and local materials, she strives to to make the richness of the earth and the beauty of these materials visible in modern architecture. These qualities will undoubtedly find their way into the new Form studies curriculum.
